A former Trump campaign official who was involved in a lawsuit with the president’s son-in-law, Corey Lewandowski, is speaking out after the book’s publisher announced that the book will not be released.
In a statement released Monday, Simon & Schuster defended its decision to not release the book.
“Our hope is that people can read it and not find it offensive,” the statement said.
“The book is a powerful reminder of the trauma of having to deal with Corey Lewan’s mental health challenges.
We are saddened that Simon & Stoughton has chosen not to publish the book, but we feel strongly that the message of this story is important to people, especially in a time of such intense, personal trauma.
We want people to know the pain this child has gone through, and to have a chance to know what they are missing out on by not having this book.”
In an interview on CNN’s “New Day” on Monday, Lewandowski said the book was “not intended to be an attack on the president,” and said he was surprised to learn that his son was the author.
“I never even knew that,” he said.
“It’s like when you have a child who is born with a genetic condition and you don’t know what the disease is.
The parents just kind of go with it.
That’s what we’re doing here.
I didn’t even know that.”
Lewandowski, who was fired by Trump in July after his son pleaded guilty to assaulting a female reporter, said he is “not offended by this book,” and called the controversy “sick.”
“This is a sickening, sickening story.
I think it is disgusting, sickens me,” he told CNN.
“I am so disgusted with this.
It is disgusting.”
The Lewandowski-authored book was published in January and became a viral sensation, becoming a best-seller.
The book’s cover was drawn by former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, and the title of the book has been changed.
